FTUI Expands Collaboration Opportunities with University of Sydney

FTUI received a visit from the University of Sydney (USyd) to explore opportunities for cooperation between the two institutions (04/04).

Prof. Ken Tye Yong, Associate Dean for External Engagement University of Sydney said that currently the Faculty of Engineering Usyd is the number one engineering school in Australia. “We have seven schools, namely Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering; Biomedical Engineering; Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering; Civil Engineering (Structures and Materials Research, Fluid and Wind, Transportation); Computer Science; Electrical and Computer Engineering; Project Management.”

Prof. Ken Tye Yong, also offers incentives in the form of scholarships for Ph.D. programs involving cooperation with industry. The industry’s role in this program is to co-fund by providing funding support for the stipend. In addition, USyd provides tuition fee exemption, where students do not always need to be in Sydney so they can conduct industry-related research remotely, for 6 months at USyd.

“FTUI is very open to cooperation with external partners. This is our step towards developing international standards and expanding cooperation with several UI partner universities in various countries, including Australia, Malaysia, and the UK,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng., Head of the Education Modernization, Planning, and Supervision Unit.

After the discussion, both parties agreed to continue the discussion of the Agreement of Implementation (AoI). Also discussed was the equalization of FTUI’s latest curriculum with USyd, especially related to Ph.D. scholarships and internships at USyd for UI students, and vice versa. In addition, Prof. Harinaldi proposed a scholarship from the ministry for the Master-Ph.D. program. fast track for four years, in cooperation with USyd.

On a different occasion, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., said, “This is a real step for FTUI in expanding the cooperation network. We hope that this collaboration will not only enrich the academic experience of our students and staff, but will also result in innovative research that benefits the wider community. Hopefully the collaboration between FTUI and USyd can provide great benefits for both parties.”

Prof. Ken Tye Yong was received by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs. Prof. Yanuar was also accompanied by Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr., Maajer of Education; Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC as Head of International Office; and Dr. Basari, S.T. M.Eng., Head of Biomedical Engineering Study Program.
