FTUI Expands New Collaboration with Technical University of Munich in Research and Education

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) received a delegation from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), located in the Professor Room, FTUI Dean Building (18/04). This meeting was held to discuss opportunities for educational and research collaboration, as well as socialization of TUM scholarships for master’s programs.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs FTUI, welcomed the potential for collaboration with TUM. “For now, FTUI only has one dual degree partner from Germany, we are very wide open if in the future TUM can become our new partner. Hopefully this collaboration that is being built can provide benefits for both parties, and become a new opportunity for students and researchers to collaborate on innovative projects and joint research.”

“We are very grateful because FTUI has warmly welcomed us, we hope today will be the first step to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions both in the fields of education and research,” said Dr. -Ing. Ali Bawono, PMP., representing TUM.

TUM itself is one of the leading research universities in Europe, where several Nobel laureates have conducted research here. TUM has various campus locations: Munich, Garching, Weihenstephan, Straubing, Heilbronn, and a campus in Singapore – TUM Asia. With 15 faculties, 6 integrative research centers, 33,960 students and 837 Teaching Staff.

The collaboration opportunity that became the main discussion in the discussion was the collaboration of the dual degree master program between FTUI and TUM. Currently TUM has run dual degree master programs with several universities in Singapore, it is possible that in the future TUM will expand university partners in other Asian countries. In addition, TUM also offers the TUM Asia-DAAD MSc Scholarship and DAAD Scholarship, where the TUM Asia-DAAD MSc Scholarship provides a scholarship value of EUR 33,000 for 2 years. As for the DAAD Scholarship, TUM offers a scholarship program (S1) in the form of study Visit and Industry Visit for Indonesian students by participating in the program for about 12 days.

On a different occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UI, said, “Today’s meeting is the first step in the collaboration between the two institutions. We hope this meeting will be a great opportunity for FTUI in improving the quality of education and research development, as well as bringing great benefits to both parties.”

In this activity, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc. Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs were also present; Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC Head of FTUI International Office, Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Secretary of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr.-Ing. Ridho Irwansyah, S.T., M.T., Lecturer of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. -Ing. Ali Bawono, PMP, Researcher and Lecturer at the Faculty of Railways, Transport and Logistics, La Budza, DAAD representative.
