FTUI and the University of Strathclyde Sign Cooperation on Mechanical and Marine Engineering Education

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) and the University of Strathclyde officially signed a cooperation document for the development of educational programs in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Engineering. The event, which was held last Friday (26/07), marked an important step in strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions and opening up new opportunities for students and teaching staff.

The FTUI delegation consisted of Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, accompanied by Dr. Ing. Dalhar Susanto, Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni, and Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Secretary of the Department of Civil Engineering. From the University of Strathclyde, Professor Stephen McArthur, Associate Principal and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Iraklis Lazakis from the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering, Cameron Johnstone from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Jenny Gazzard, International Development Manager were present.

The signing of this cooperation document covers various fields, including curriculum development, student and faculty exchanges, and joint research. “We are very happy with the opportunities that are open through this collaboration,” said Prof. Yanuar. “This collaboration will provide great benefits for both institutions, especially in improving the quality of education and research in the fields of mechanical engineering and marine engineering.”

Professor Stephen McArthur from the University of Strathclyde also expressed his enthusiasm. “The collaboration with FTUI will enrich our academic programs and strengthen our international relationships. We hope to create a dynamic and innovative learning environment for students from both institutions,” he said.

After the signing, an in-depth discussion was held about the educational program that will be developed together. The discussion covered various aspects, such as teaching methods, curriculum adjustments, and joint research opportunities. Dr. Ing. Dalhar Susanto added, “The exchange of ideas and experiences in this discussion is very beneficial and opens up many opportunities for closer collaboration in the future.”

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, gave his comments regarding this collaboration. “The collaboration between FTUI and the University of Strathclyde is a strategic step that will bring many benefits to both institutions. We hope that this collaboration can improve the quality of education and research through the exchange of science and technology, as well as expand international networks. This synergy will produce new innovations that are expected to make a positive contribution to the development of engineering science in Indonesia and the UK,” he said.

With this collaboration, it is hoped that students and faculty from FTUI and the University of Strathclyde can develop their academic and professional abilities through various programs that are innovative and relevant to the needs of the global industry. The signing marks an important milestone in the relationship between the two institutions and paves the way for wider cooperation in the future.
