Formula UIRT-02 Car Designed by UI Racing Team Students Achieves World Competition Achievements in Czech Republic

Universitas Indonesia (UI) Racing Team has once again made a brilliant achievement in the international arena. At the prestigious Formula Student Czech Republic (FS Czech) 2024 event, a team of students from the Faculty of Engineering (FT) managed to achieve important achievements. They were in third place in the Business Plan Presentation, 6th in the Cost and Manufacturing Event, 11th in Autocross, 13th in the Engineering Design Event, and in the same position overall.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. According to him, the achievements of the UI Racing Team have increased in the 2024 Czech Republic Formula Student when compared to the previous year. “This proves the commitment of the student team in bringing the spirit of innovation and mastery of technology in the automotive sector, especially in the world of racing. This team not only makes the University of Indonesia proud in the global arena, but also shows the ability of FTUI students to apply the engineering theories that have been studied,” said Prof. Heri.

This success is inseparable from the guidance of lecturers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering FTUI, Dr.-Ing. Mohammad Adhitya, S.T., M.Sc., as well as the technological research they conducted to design the latest racing car, UIRT-02. This car comes with various updates, such as a body made of a combination of Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber that is more aerodynamic, a new lighter carbon steel chassis, and a more reliable suspension system in maneuvering.

Akmal Zaki, non-technical director of UI Racing Team 2024, said, “I am very proud to be part of the UI Racing Team. As a newcomer team in this competition, UI Racing Team managed to show very proud results with an increase in achievements from year to year. Being the only team from outside Europe at FS Czech 2024 shows how committed our team is to always give maximum effort in this competition. I hope that the UI Racing Team can continue to bring its best innovations in order to provide maximum achievements and continue to make Indonesia proud, especially the University of Indonesia on the international stage.”

The UI Racing Team, which consists of 21 students from various departments at FTUI, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering, successfully collaborated to design and produce this racing car. The members of this team include Arfadhila Pyrenadi Adam, Muhammad Riffat Muntaz Heidir, Akmal Zaki Ihsani, Muhammad Fadhil Maulana, Muhammad Danendra Zydean, Fairuz Fawwaz, Fabian Arie Yulvandi, Ignatius Cahyo Widhiasto, Razan Taqy Isyra, Muhammad Atha Zaidane Hamman, Zaahir Faizi Zuhrah, Achmad Maulana Althav, Jonathan Prasetio Sugiarta, Julian Jensen Purnomo, Elang Caesano Pratama Alingga, Sultan Alridho Putra, Zidane Utama, Khadeeja Zakia Mulyana, Nabila Fahira Mulya, Raden Jachregantravis, and Muhammad Abi Rafdi Aufar.

Formula Student is an international competition that tests students’ ability to design, manufacture, and present Formula racing cars. This competition consists of two main disciplines, namely Static Event which includes Design Event, Business Event, and Cost Event, as well as Dynamic Event which includes races such as Acceleration, Autocross, Skid-pad, and Endurance. This year, the Czech Republic Formula Student was held on August 5-10, 2024 at the Autodrom Most, Czech Republic, and was attended by 63 teams from various countries.

Since its establishment in 2017, UI Racing Team has continued to show its commitment to automotive technology innovation with various achievements at the national and international levels. In addition to participating in competitions, the team is active in leading automotive exhibitions such as the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) and the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), as well as community activities such as the Morning Drivers Club (MDC).
