Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Kalamullah Ramli, M.Eng., Professor of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Indonesia (UI), received a prestigious award from the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA) on October 17, 2024. This award is a recognition of his dedication and contribution in strengthening cybersecurity cooperation in the ASEAN region and Japan.
Prof. Kalamullah Ramli received the award in the Country Champion category along with eight other figures, for his role in developing research-based cybersecurity solutions that have been published in various leading journals. In addition to being active in research, he also contributed to establishing a cybersecurity study and research center at UI.
The award given in the Cyber Security Week series which took place in Singapore, is known as the AJCCA Cyber Resilience Award (ACRA). Singapore’s Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, Ms. Rahayu Mahzam emphasized the importance of the cybersecurity community’s role in facing increasingly complex threats and appreciated the cross-border collaboration that has been established by the awardees.
The award highlights the outstanding performance of the award recipients between 2019 and August 2024 which are evaluated based on five core criteria that align with the AJCCA Vision, Mission, and Values. These criteria include: Dynamic Leadership, Resilience, Trust, Respect, and Collaboration. This year’s inaugural ACRA 2024 Awards recognize 19 individuals from Japan and ASEAN countries for their dedication in advancing AJCCA’s vision for “a vibrant and resilient cybersecurity community in our region through trustworthy and respectful collaboration.” The award recipients have demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting cybersecurity and resilience in their respective countries, thereby supporting the development of a secure digital ecosystem across the region.
For this award, Prof. Kalamullah Ramli expressed his gratitude and appreciation to AJCCA. “I am honored and grateful to be the recipient of the AJCCA Cyber Resilience Award (ACRA) – Country Champion from Indonesia, which is being held for the first time. This reflects the recognition not only for me personally, but also for the role, contribution, and contribution of the Indonesia Cyber Awareness and Resilience Institute – Universitas Indonesia (id- CARE. UI) to the country, the ASEAN region, and the Digital Ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific,” said Prof. Kalamullah.
“We are very proud of the achievements of Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Kalamullah Ramli, M.Eng. This award is not only a recognition of his dedication in strengthening cybersecurity collaboration in the ASEAN region and Japan, but also reflects FTUI’s commitment to producing works and innovations that have an impact on technology security at the international level. Hopefully this achievement will inspire our academic community to continue to contribute to cyber security and technological advances that are beneficial to the wider community,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU.
The award also emphasizes the importance of collaboration among cybersecurity professionals both at the domestic and international levels, especially in ASEAN countries. It is hoped that through this award, the contribution of Prof. Kalamullah Ramli and other fellow cybersecurity activists can continue to strengthen cybersecurity cooperation in the ASEAN region and Japan, as well as build a safer and more resilient environment in the face of global cyber threats.
