FTUI Collaborates with Ehime University and T-Mec Holdings for Internship and Student Exchange Programs

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) received a visit from Ehime University and T-Mec Holdings on Thursday (17/10). The meeting was chaired by the Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration of FTUI, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. This visit aimed to explore collaboration opportunities in the field of internships and exchanges for FTUI students.

In the program, FTUI students from various majors, such as Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Architecture, had the opportunity to take part in an internship at T-Mec Group, one of the subsidiaries of T-Mec Holdings. During the internship program, students will gain valuable experience in the engineering and construction industry in Japan, with assistance from Indonesian workers working at T-Mec to facilitate the adaptation process. This internship will provide a service fee in the form of allowance and accommodation costs will be borne by T-Mec.

Meanwhile, students will also undergo a student exchange program at Ehime University to take part in lectures in the field of Regional Resilience. This program is not included in the credit earning scheme, but students will get a certificate as proof of participation. Students who take part in this program must meet the basic requirements, including Japanese language proficiency of at least N4 and will be assisted by a facilitator to ensure that they can adjust well during the program.

“Ehime University, located on Shikoku Island, Japan, is a university that has 7 faculties and has been established since 1949. Together with T-Mec Holdings, which is engaged in construction and manufacturing, we are offering a 3-month internship program that will take place in the summer, from June to August,” said Akihiko Matsuoka, President and Representative Director of T-Mec Group.

On a separate occasion, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU said that this program will strengthen the relationship between Indonesia and Japan through educational and industrial collaboration. “We hope that FTUI students can take advantage of this opportunity to study in Japan and expand their international experience. After graduating, they also have the opportunity to continue their careers in Japan,” said Prof. Heri.

Prof. Mahmud said that FTUI and Ehime University are also in the process of drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Agreement of Intent (AoI) to strengthen this commitment to cooperation. This collaboration is expected to be the beginning of wider collaboration in the future, not only in internship programs, but also in joint research and technology development in the field of engineering.

Also present were Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Head of FTUI International Office; Kristanti Dewi Paramita, S.Ars., M.A., Ph.D., Secretary of the Department of Architecture FTUI; as well as delegates from Ehime University and T-Mec Holdings, including Sondang Megawati Simorangkir, Fathan Abdillah Iskandar Muda, Abdul Kadir Alhamid, Daisuke Shiba, and Julia Hockey.
