The University of Melbourne (UniMelb), the second best and oldest university in Australia, visited the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FT UI) on Monday (11/11) at the Leadership Meeting Room, FTUI Dean Building. The University of Melbourne was represented by Prof. Shanika Karunasekara, Deputy Dean, Academic and Louisa Tobin, Manager of Global Student Experience in Department of Engineering & IT.
This visit aims to discuss student mobility programs in the international scope, especially for engineering and information technology students. They were welcomed by Dr.rer.pol. Ir. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T., Manager of Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service of FTUI, and Siti N. Winduningtyas, Coordinator of International Cooperation of FTUI.
“The mobility program between the two universities is planned to take place in the summer precisely in January 2026, with an implementation time span of 10 days to 2 weeks. It is hoped that the participants who can take part in this program are 15 to 20 students,” said Prof. Shanika.
Dr. Romadhani, representing FTUI, welcomed this program. “The main topic proposed focuses on Renewable Energy or renewable energy, besides that UniMelb will also inform the exact number of program participants. To support topic alignment, FTUI will send a list of topics as well as the names of lecturers who can participate in this program to UniMelb. This move aims to create a mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge in areas such as renewable energy and sustainable engineering solutions.”
Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU. As the Dean of FTUI also said, “We are confident that this knowledge exchange will provide mutually beneficial benefits, improve the quality of education, and enrich the academic experience of our students, as well as strengthen the position of FTUI and UniMelb in the realm of global engineering education. This collaboration reflects our passion to continuously improve the quality of education in line with international standards and global trends in higher education. We hope that the relationship between FTUI and UniMelb will be even closer, making a real contribution to higher education and sustainable technology development.”
This collaboration is expected to improve the student learning experience through exposure to academic standards and international practices, especially in fields that are relevant to Indonesia and the world.
