ABOUT ENGINEERING BOOTCAMP 2022 : Handheld Reactor Diagnostic Tool
The bootcamp is designed and will be delivered by academics from UQ’s Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology. The bootcamp features a design challenge that explores engineering topics such as materials, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, mechatronic engineering and prototyping.
Teams of four students will be allocated four weeks to develop and work on designing a concept and producing a working prototype to address this challenge. UQ academics will interact with the teams twice a week (Mon and Tue, 4-6 PM). During these virtual sessions, teams are taught fundamental engineering design skills and are further supported by clarifying their questions and doubts that they may face while progressing in designing their prototype.
The challenge is designed for students in the 1st or 2nd year of their engineering undergraduate studies. The challenge is best aligned with mechatronic engineering, however, students from any engineering discipline with an interest in electronics and coding are welcome to participate.
Note : There is no cost attached to this activity for the universty or students.
ASSESSMENT AND AWARDS
All concepts will be judged on their novelty, usability, suitability for the task they are designed for and their ability to accurately measure variables.
All teams will be required to submit a video pitch of their design and present a live demonstration of their prototype. The judging panel will comprise of academics and subject matter experts from UQ.
One winning team will be announced at the finale and each winning team member will be awarded with a crtificate and an Apple iPad. All participants that submit a final design will be given a Certificate of Participation from The University of Queensland.
