On Monday (24/6), the Interdisciplinary Master of Urban and Regional Planning of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (PWK FTUI) received a visit from Monash University students and lecturers. The visit was represented by Brendan Josey from the Department of Architecture of Monash University and attended by seven architecture students, as well as one lecturer from Monash University in Indonesia. The visit was received in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the i-CELL FTUI Building.
This visit was in order to fulfill the request from Monas University, especially students, to participate in lecture sessions and discussions guided by the Head of the FTUI PWK Study Program, Dr. Ing. Ir. Ova Candra Dewi, S.T., M.Sc., IPU., with the theme Cities and Environment. On this occasion, the Head of the PWK Study Program shared material with the title “The Circular Economy: The Future Directions”. This lecture provides in-depth insight into the concept of the circular economy and its future direction, emphasizing the importance of sustainable strategies in urban and regional planning, and the case in Indonesia.
In addition to lectures, the event was also filled with various series of discussions and visits to several infrastructure locations at the University of Indonesia. The main focus of the visit was green and blue infrastructure, which is part of the university’s efforts to implement the concept of sustainability. This activity was guided by representatives from the Interdisciplinary Master of Urban and Regional Planning FTUI, namely Dr. Phil. Hendricus Andy Simarmata, S.T., M.Si., and Farrah Eriska Putri, S.T., M.Ars.
The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., stated “This visit not only provides an opportunity for Monash University students to learn from experts at FTUI, but also strengthens the relationship between the two institutions in the field of urban planning and development. We hope that this collaboration can continue and make a positive contribution to the development of science and practice in the field of sustainable planning.”
