FTUI and Arizona State University Discuss Potential Cooperation

On March 14, 2024, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) received a delegation from Arizona State University, which took place in the Leadership Meeting Room, FTUI Dean Building. This visit was carried out in order to discuss collaboration of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the fields of education, research and grant cooperation between the two universities.

The essence of this meeting began with an explanation of the study programs, courses, and departments contained in Arizona State University. This well-known university located in Tempe, Arizona, United States (USA) has an excellent reputation. Arizona State University has been named the world’s leading university for academic reputation by the Times Higher Education, World Reputation Rankings 2022, the No. 1 public university in the U.S. of choice for international students according to the QS World University Rankings 2022, as well as ranked 1st in the U.S. and 2nd in the world for sustainability practices from the 2023 Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System.

The cooperation opportunities discussed between FTUI and Arizona State University are joint degree programs, student exchanges, faculty exchanges, and other mobility programs. Joint degree programs are intended for undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate students will earn two bachelor’s degrees from FTUI and Arizona State University as well as a master’s degree from Arizona State University. Meanwhile, graduate students earn two master’s degrees from FTUI and Arizona State University.

“Our purpose in visiting FTUI today is to introduce Arizona State University and discuss opportunities for cooperation with FTUI. The cooperation opportunities that we will offer in the form of the International Accelerated Degree Program (IADP) are 3 + 2 programs, 3 + 1 + 1 programs and 1 + 1 specifically for master degrees. In addition, we open opportunities for grant cooperation discussions for workforce development between the two educational institutions,” said Professor Terry Alford as Associate Director and Professor, School for Engineering of Matter, Transport, and Energy.

Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., said, “We welcome visits and opportunities for cooperation with Arizona State University. Hopefully the meeting that has been held by FTUI and Arizona State University can increase the opportunities for cooperation that can be done by the two universities. We hope that the cooperation we discussed can be realized soon.”

This meeting was attended by FTUI delegation consisting of Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc. as Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi as Head of Education Modernization and Internationalization Unit; Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC as Secretary of Education Modernization and Internationalization Unit; Dr. Deni Ferdian, S.T., M.Sc. as Head of the Department of Metallurgical & Material Engineering; Dr. Dianursanti, S.T., M.T. as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering; and Dr. Tania Surya Utami S.T., M.T. as Head of Bioprocess Engineering Study Program. In addition, there was also a delegation from Arizona State University consisting of Prof. Terry Alford and Ms. Huyen Nguyen as International Admission Apecialist, Admission Services.
