FTUI and NUS Enterprise Hold Info Session to Foster Student Entrepreneurial Spirit

On Friday (22/03), the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit (WIN) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) and the Center for Independent Learning (CIL) UI held an Info Session Short Course by the National University of Singapore (NUS). This activity aims to promote entrepreneurship education, discuss programs in detail, and explore collaboration opportunities between educational institutions to improve entrepreneurial skills among students.

In his speech, Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., Head of WIN Unit FTUI said, “Every year, FTUI accepts more than 1,000 new students. Through the WIN Unit, FTUI tries to create programs to increase the entrepreneurial spirit of our new students, which I think is in line with the program that will be held by NUS Entreprise. With these programs, we hope that students can have knowledge and experience about entrepreneurship and can be utilized even after completing their studies at the Faculty of Engineering.”

Also present at this event, F. Astha Ekadiyanto., S.T., M.Sc., Head of the UI Independent Learning Center (CIL), also highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship programs, especially at the Faculty of Engineering. He discussed the need for collaboration between various faculties and institutions to improve the entrepreneurial skills of UI students.

This Info Session presented Dr. Claire Cheong, who represented NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurship arm of the National University of Singapore (NUS). During her presentation, Dr Claire delivered several entrepreneurship and innovation programmes at NUS Enterprise, including the NUS Overseas Colleges programme, which sends students overseas to gain entrepreneurial experience, and the Summer Programme in Entrepreneurship, which offers students the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship in Singapore.

“There will be many opportunities for FTUI and NUS to collaborate in the future related to entrepreneurship. Because the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship is also one of our focuses, which is currently implemented by incorporating the entrepreneurial dimension into teaching and promoting the spirit of innovation through various programs and activities. In terms of startup ecosystem, Singapore itself is ranked #8 in the world. So Singapore can be said to be one of the best places to study economics and what are the opportunities in it,” said Dr. Claire.

Responding to this activity, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU, Dean of FTUI, said “In an era where entrepreneurship is one of the main pillars in the development of competent human resources, cooperation between educational institutions like this is very important. The collaboration between FTUI and NUS in the field of entrepreneurship is expected to have a positive impact in producing a generation of students who are creative, innovative, and ready to contribute to the global business world.”
